Tour to Duddingston Garden
Wednesday 16 May 2018

In 1963 Drs Andrew & Nancy Neil began to create a garden on what effectively was the Kirk rubbish dump.

With their enthusiasm, horticultural skill and prodigious labour they transformed it into a series of colourful terraces.  In May all the azaleas and narcissi should be out. Thomson’s Tower was built in 1825 as a curling house to a design by William Playfair. The Tower has recently been restored with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Historic Scotland, and the National Trust for Scotland.
